Friday, August 21. Tom Hall & The Plowboys Present Visions of Black Elk. 6-9 pm. The Columbia Museum of Art hosts this exciting concert as Plowboys present a multimedia interpretation of the Great Vision of Sioux. Plowboys explore the mystery and spirituality of Black Eagle’s vision which foretold the downfall of the nation. Nationally acclaimed chef and writer Dan Huntley from Charlotte presents a light meal of Native American cuisine before the show. Expect the unexpected, such as buffalo wild rice and foie gras boudin. The Plowboys are a band of merrymaking musicians who play a blend of Cosmic Americana Zydeco Boogie. The show is followed by an encore of music from their new Zydeco album coming out this fall. Cash bar and free Native American cuisine. Cost: $15 or $12 for members. Friday, August 21. Hotel for Dogs. Movies in the Park is a FREE, outdoor movie event taking place at North Springs Park (1320 Clemson Road) and being organized by Awaken Church, with the help of several community organizations and businesses. Enjoy a free movie on a 15'x25' screen, free drinks courtesy of Pepsi, free popcorn courtesy of Cromer’s Popcorn and Peanuts, and free Sno Cones courtesy of Jumps-N-More! Movies in the Park is partnering with Harvest Hope Food Bank in providing food for needy families throughout the Midlands. We are asking you bring some or all of the following items to be donated at the Harvest Hope Food Bank truck that will be parked at Movies in the Park: Canned meat, Canned vegetables, Canned fruit, Canned soup, Canned ready-to-eat meals, Peanut butter in plastic jars, Rice, Dry beans.
